Meet Auditor Tina M. Cannon

Tina M. Cannon is Utah’s 26th Utah State Auditor.  She was sworn in on January 6, 2025 has the distinct honor and privilege of being the first independently elected republican woman to statewide office in Utah, as well as the first  woman to be elected as the State Auditor. 

Born in Box Elder County, Tina is proud to be a fourth generation Utahn. She and her husband David, live in Mountain Green Utah, where they raised their four children. Tina is proud to be a Utah State Aggie and earned an accounting degree at Utah State University’s school of accountancy at the John M. Huntsman School of Business.

Auditor Cannon’s top priorities are to provide Utah taxpayers with an independent assessment of financial operations, statutory compliance, and performance management of all Utah state and local governmental agencies. Her commitment to the taxpayers of Utah consists of complete and unobstructed access to every financial transaction subject to her oversight. This comprises all state, county, local and special districts, ensuring the taxpayers’ right to know how their money is spent.  All of this and more will be accessible at transparency.utah.gov. 

Tina has served in numerous roles in local and state government. However, her most valued honor was being named 2018 Mother of the Year. Her favorite role remains that of a wife and mother.
